Drumstick Soup

Drumstick Soup

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Serves: 3


5-6 big drumsticks

1 cup chopped mixed vegetables (cabbage, onion, carrot, bottle gourd)

3 cup water

½ inch piece of ginger

½ teaspoon of green chillies paste

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon lemon juice


Coriander leaves for garnishing


Cut drumsticks into 2 inch pieces. Add 2 glass of water to drumsticks and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Let it cool.

Scoop the pulp from drumsticks, mash it and strain it. Reserve the water of boiled drumsticks.

Add 1 glass of water and ginger to vegetables and pressure cook it for 1 whistle.

Blend the vegetables and strain it.

Take a pan. Add vegetable and drumstick puree and boil it. Add reserved water of drumsticks, green chillies, pepper, salt and cook it for about 5-7 minutes. Add lemon juice and mix it well.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it.


Note: For more flavour you can add mint or basil leaves.
