Moong Dal-Corn Soup (Green Gram)

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Serves: 3

Ingredients

1 cup split green moong dal/split green gram

1 cup boiled corn kernels

3-4 finely chopped green chillies

2 cloves of garlic

1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

2 teaspoon lemon zest

1 teaspoon corn flour

Salt

1 teaspoon butter

Basil leaves for garnishing

 

Method

Take moong dal, add 4 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Add garlic while boiling. Let it cool slightly. Blend it with a blender and strain it.

Take a pan and heat butter. Add soup, corn kernels, salt, turmeric powder, lemon zest, green chillies and let it simmer.

Take 1/4 cup of water and dissolve corn flour. Mix it in the soup and let it cook it for about 3-4 minutes, stirring continuously in the beginning to avoid lumps. After it thickens, let it simmer on a low flame for about 4-5 minutes.

Garnish it with basil leaves and serve it hot with rice, pulav or bread.
