Amla Chutney

Amla - Phyllanthus emblica, Indian gooseberry is used in medicinal and culinary uses.

Amla (Indian Gooseberry) Chutney

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Serves: 5

Ingredients

1 cup chopped amla(Indian Gooseberry)

2 cup sugar

2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder

3 teaspoon red chilly powder

Salt

 

Method

Pressure cook amla in 3 glass of water for 2 whistles or boil it in a water. Don't throw away the water.

Add salt, red chilly powder, cumin powder and boil it till it thickens. It should be of thick pouring consistency. Mash it slightly with the spoon. 

Stir it occasionally till it is done. Let it cool completely.

Store it in the air-tight container.

Enjoy it with roti, paratha, puris or fritters.
