Multi-Grain Khichdo

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 35-40 minutes

Serves: 3


¼ cup wheat

¼ cup bajri/pearl millet

¼ cup jowar/sorghum

¼ cup choli/black eyed beans

¼ cup sprouted moong/moong

¼ cup peas

¼ cup finely chopped carrots

¼ cup finely chopped red bell pepper/capsicum

2 teaspoon ginger paste

4-5 finely chopped green chillies

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

3-4 cloves

1 small piece of cinnamon


2 teaspoon oil



Soak all the grains for 7-8 hours.

Take a thick bottom pan and heat oil. Add cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, ginger paste and 3 glass of water. Let it boil. Add salt, green chillies, red capsicum, soaked grains, vegetables and close the lid. 

Cook it on medium flame for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally or till it is done. Add little water if needed. 

Serve it hot with curd or raita.
