Dal Dhokli Preparation Time: 25 minutes Cooking Time: 25 minutes Serves: 4 Ingredients 2 cup toor dal (yellow lentil) 1 cup wheat flour 2 tablespoons gram flour/besan 1 cup chopped tomatoes 1 teaspoon ginger paste 4-5 curry leaves 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 1 teaspoon cumin seeds ¼ teaspoon asafoetida 3-4 cloves 1-2 cinnamon 1 bay leaf 2 teaspoon turmeric powder 3 teaspoon red chilly powder 1 tablespoon jaggery Salt ½ lemon 2 tablespoon oil Method Cook toor dal (yellow lentil) in pressure cooker for 3 whistles. Blend it and keep it aside. Take wheat flour and besan. Add salt, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder , oil and knead dough. Take a pan and heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf and asafoetida. Add curry leaves, chopped tomatoes and ginger paste. Saute for 2-3 minutes. Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, cumin coriander powder and then add dal/yellow lentil. Add salt, jaggery, lemon and cook it on slow flame. Add water as per the desired consistency. Now from the dough make 3 equal balls and roll big roti. Cut into diamond shapes of about 1 inch from each roti. Add it to dal and cook it for about 12-15 minutes stirring occasionally or till it is done. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot with steam rice. You can even have it alone. |
