Bhindi in Onion-Tomato

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

500 grams bhindi (ladies finger)

2 onions

2 tomatoes

2 teaspoon red chilly powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder 

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

A pinch of asofoetida

Salt

2 tablespoon oil

 

Method

Finely chop onions. Cut tomatoes into small pieces. Cut ladies finger into half and into two pieces. Take a kadai (wok) and heat oil. Temper it with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and asofoetida. Add chopped onions and saute for about 2-3 minutes. Add bhindi and saute on low flame for about 10 minutes. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilly powder. Stir occasionally. When it is almost ready add cut tomatoes and cook it for about 2-3 minutes.

Serve it hot.
