Cauliflower in Onion-Tomato

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients

500 gram cauliflower

2 big onions

3 big tomatoes

1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

2 teaspoon of red chilly powder

2 tablespoon of garlic paste

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

A pinch of asofoetida

Salt

3 tablespoon oil

Method

Separate cauliflower florets and cut into small pieces. Chop onions and tomatoes into small pieces.

Take a kadai (wok) and heat oil. Temper it with cumin seeds and asofoetida. Add onions and saute till it turns light brown. Add garlic paste and tomatoes and saute it for about 5 minutes. Add cauliflower, salt, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and stir it properly. Add 1/2 glass of water, close the lid and cook it for 10-12 minutes or till it is ready. Stir occasionally but be careful otherwise florets will break.

Add sugar if you like it.

Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot with roti, paratha or jeera rice.
