Tindora in onions

Preparation Time: 15-20 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Serves: 3


500 gram tindora(Ivy gourd)

2 big onions

2 teaspoon red chilly powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

A pinch of asafoetida


2 tablespoon oil



Cut tindora into long strips. Cut onions also long. Take a kadai (wok) and heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and then onions. Sauté for about 5 minutes till it changes its colour. Add tindora, salt and turmeric powder. Close the lid and let it cook for about 7-8 minutes. Check it with spatula if it is cooked or not. Add red chilly powder and coriander-cumin powder and sauté for about 2-3 minutes. You can add sugar and tomatoes if you like it.

Serve it hot.
