Modak is a sweet dumpling popular in India. It is specially made to offer Lord Ganesha during festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. It is either stuffed with sweet fillings or made with sweet Khoya.
![]() Mava Modak Preparation Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 30 minutes Ingredients 1 ½ cup Khoya/mava ¼ cup desiccated coconut powder 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cardamom powder 2 teaspoon milk ½ cup chopped nuts (pistachios, cashew nuts, almonds) Ghee for greasing Method Take a pan. Add mava, sugar, milk, coconut powder, cardamom powder and mix it well. Sauté it on a low flame for 8-10 minutes till sugar melts and mixes with mava. Sauté it till it dries slightly. Switch off the gas stove. Let it cool slightly. Add nuts and mix it. Make small balls. Grease your hands with ghee and give it a shape of modak. You can also use a mould to shape it up. Make all the modaks like this. It is ready to offer. You can store it for 5-6 days.
