Bread with Potato-Onion Spread

Bread with Potato-Onion Spread

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes


Ingredients

6 slices of bread

3 boiled potatoes

1 cup finely chopped onions

1 cup finely chopped tomatoes/tomato gravy

4-5 finely chopped green chillies

¼ cup finely chopped mint leaves/phudina

1 teaspoon red chilly powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon garam masala(all spice)

Salt

2 teaspoon oil

5 teaspoon butter

 

Method

Take pressure cooker, add 2 small glasses of water and boil it. Cut potatoes into half and put it in the boiling water. Close the lid and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Let the cooker cool. Take out potatoes and let it cool slightly. Peel the skin and mash the boiled potatoes.

Take a pan and heat oil. Add onions and sauté it for 3-4 minutes, till it turns light brown. Add tomatoes and sauté if for 2-3 minutes more. Add salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, green chillies, mint leaves and cook for about a minute. Add mashed potatoes and mix it well. Cook on the low flame for about 2 minutes.

Toast the bread and apply butter. Apply potato-onion spread and serve immediately.

You can even sprinkle grated cheese if you like, topping with tomato ketch up and green chutney.
