Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji is a famous Indian Street Food, originated in Mumbai, Maharashtra has now become popular everywhere specially in the evenings. Bhaji (vegetable curry) blended with spices is served with fried pav, onions and lemon.

Pav Bhaji

Ingredients

12 pav (buns)

3 boiled potatoes

1 cup boiled peas

1/2 cup chopped carrots

1 cup chopped cauliflower

1 cup finely chopped onions/shallots

1 cup finely chopped tomatoes

2 teaspoon garlic paste

2 teaspoon pav bhaji masala

2 teaspoon red chilly powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

Salt

8 tablespoon butter

Coriander leaves for garnishing

 

For Salad

1 cup tomato slices

1 cup cucumber slices

1 cup onion slices

Method

Boil carrots, cauliflower, peas and drain water. Mash potatoes and boiled vegetables.

Take a pan and heat 3 tablespoon of butter. Add garlic paste and onions and saute it till it becomes translucent. Add tomatoes and saute it till oil leaves the ends.

Add salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, pav bhaji masala and boiled vegetables. Mix it well and let it simmer for about 8-10 minutes on a medium flame.

Cut the pav horizontally and apply butter on both inner sides. Take a tawa and cook pavs on both the sides till it turns light crispy.

For Salad - Mix all the ingredients and serve.

Garnish bhaji with butter and coriander leaves and serve it with salad or chopped onions, lemon wedges and papadums.
